Presentation Support
-
Will someone at The Graduate College look at my slide and give me feedback or comments before I submit it?
No, but we highly recommend that you show your slide to your research advisor and/or another faculty mentor to get their feedback. Proofread very carefully.
-
Will someone at The Graduate College watch me practice my presentation with me and give me feedback?
No, but we recommend that you schedule an appointment with the COMM Lab, and/or practice with friends, classmates, and faculty.
-
May I include copywritten images on the slide?
Yes, but please contact the University Libraries Copyright Officer with copyright concerns or questions to confirm the use of copywritten content. You can email questions to copyrightoffice@txstate.edu. The Graduate College will not confirm that images or other materials are copywritten.
-
I am in a Fine Arts or MFA in Creative Writing graduate program. I have written music (or created a dance, or written poetry or fiction, etc.) How would I present my work for a 3MT® presentation?
Students in creative programs are encouraged to compete by presenting what they might present in a thesis defense. The 3MT® competition is scholarly; thus students can tell the audience what is innovative and unique about the creative work and the process of creating the work (rather than performing the work).
-
I submitted my final version of my slide for the preliminary round, then caught a serious typo. May I resubmit it?
For the preliminary recordings, students may submit one revision of their slide, if needed. The slide must be resubmitted before the deadline, no exceptions. Please ask your research advisor and/or other faculty to proofread your slide for you before you submit it to us.
-
I submitted my final version of my slide for the university final, then caught a serious typo. May I resubmit it?
For the final competition, once students submit their slide by the deadline, that slide is FINAL. No resubmissions will be permitted. Please ask your research advisor and/or other faculty to proofread your slide for you before you submit it to us.
